Past Continuous Tense
Past Continuous Tense : We use this tense to show continuity in past.
Rules :
1. We add "ing" in the first form of the verb.
2. Helping verb 'Was" is used for singular subjects including "I" and "Were" is used for plural subjects.

Affirmative sentence : subject + was/were + verb's Ist form + ing + object.
Example : Rahul was riding bike on the road.
I was catching fish from the pond yesterday.
Negative : subject + was/were + not + verb's Ist form + ing + object.
Example : You were not learning your lesson at home.
They were not plucking flowers in the garden.
Interrogative sentence :
Yes/No - type : was/were + subject + not + verb's Ist + ing + object ?
Example : Was she not cooking food at home yesterday ?
Were you not speaking the truth to me ?
Q.W/ Wh - type : Q.W. + was/were + subject + not + verb's Ist + ing + object ?
Example : Why were you not going to take yoga classes ?
When was he watching television in his room ?
